Big B's tweet irks Rajinikanth's fans

Amitabh Bachchan did not know that the joke he posted on twitter can irked Rajinikanth’s fans to the extreme level. He did not mean to pokes fun at Rajinikanth but just posted in his blog as a good humor.

Amitabh Bachchan posted on his twitter page, 'Someone sent me this on mobile: "When Graham Bell discovered the telephone, he found two missed calls from Rajnikant!!" Brilliant,

Big B immediately corrected: 'Ok! Graham Bell 'invented' the telephone ... not 'discovered' as written earlier .. in Rajni joke .. !!! Apologies!!'

The actor’s joke was taken in a bad sense by Rajinikanth’s fans and they reacted strongly to Big B’s joke. Big B immediately apologizes Rajinikanth. In his apology message, he wrote, 'Not making fun of him ...praising his status and his greatness ..he is noble successful humble person , and revered like a God,' he added.

Well, Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan share a great rapport and they have a great respect for each other this slight joke will surely not create difference between them.

Shahrukh Khan gets into brawl with a journalists

Shahrukh Khan is a media friendly person who always maintains cool in public and maintains a good relationship with media. He is one of the popular actors of Bollywood but never got into brawl with journalist. Whatever be the situation, he handles situation calmly. But recently, he got into spat with a photo journalist when he tried to click his photo when he was having fun with his wife and Bollywood friends on the street after India won the world cup.

Shahrukh could not make to the world cup final due to toe injury but to enjoy the victory, he went out to the street to enjoy with his wife Gauri, Hrithik Roshan and Karisma Kapoor. He came out of his car and started celebrating with his fans on the street.

The crowd on seeing Shahrukh went crazy and the situation almost became unmanageable.

Apparently, Shahrukh lost his patience and got into spat with a photographer, who was trying to take his photo. To get away from the unruly crowd, the actor and his friends rushed to producer Ritesh Sidhwani's house. On realizing his fault, SRK immediately reacted called the media inside Ritesh's house and asked them to take as much photos as they wanted.

Konkona flaunts her baby bump

We have seen the same 'it' dress making it to two big fashion magazine covers in the same month. We've also seen the same person making it to two magazine covers in the same month. But we haven't seen two pregnant celebrities showing off their baby bumps for the cover of the same magazine in the same month. Glamour magazine OK! might have scored a first of sorts in the department.Their UK and India covers for the month of April have the same theme, though with two different celebs. With international pop diva Mariah Carey and Bollywood actress Konkona Sen showing off their baby bumps for the UK and the Indian editions respectively, the covers look like following the same brief. While strikingly similar in theme, the covers are drastically different in treatment. The UK cover of the magazine with Mariah has a fun, sexual vibe to it, with husband Nick Cannon holding her topless breasts tenderly. The 42-year-old singing sensation is laughing, with husband holding her from behind. She is wearing nothing apart from her tousled hair flowing down. But then, the eternal diva Mariah has been less than shy about her expectant figure. She also recently appeared topless on the cover of Life & Style Weekly. That was followed by the singer tweeting a picture of her pregnant belly being covered with butterflies.Konkona's photo, on the other hand, is pictured keeping the Indian taste and sensibility in mind. Considering she's only the second Indian celeb, after actress Tara Sharma, to have done a cover with her bump showing, she made sure it didn't look too 'out there'. Wearing an off- shoulder cape in an olive green colour, she's seen holding her bump and smiling tenderly while looking at it.The long side braid, her au naturel look and serene expression is completely different from Mariah's picture. Koko and her husband, actor Ranvir Shorey, became the proud parents of a baby boy about a month ago. Mariah, pregnant with twins, will become a mother soon.

Kareena ignores Saif for Aamir

Kareena Kapoor has refused to give dates for beau Saif's Agent Vinod, which will apparently put the shooting of the film on hold. The actress will instead be shooting for Reema Kagti's film opposite Aamir.

No, she's not miffed with Saif, in fact she's just sticking to her professional
commitments, reports Mumbai Mirror. The actress had allotted her dates in April, May and June to Reema Kagti's film and would not be shooting for Agent Vinod unless she completes her schedule.

A source told Mumbai Mirror, “Kareena has allotted her dates in April, May and June to Reema Kagti’s film, with Aamir Khan and Rani KareenaMukherji. Despite the fact that Agent Vinod has been delayed many times over for various reasons and now is in its last stage of production.”

The source further added, “Most of the shooting is over. But there are still songs and sequences that require VFX. And yes, a schedule with Kareena is pending. But she’s busy with another film. So, we’ll just have to wait.”

Even the director of Agent Vinod Sriram has no problems in waiting for Kareena. “She was committed to the other film from some time. But that’s okay. Saif and I will be busy with other scenes until she becomes free. I also have a couple of visual-effects scenes to put into place.”

Well Kareena, that's true professionalism!

Salman to play Tarzan!

Morning my mushy mushroom quiches! How begins this Friday for you? It's started on a rather khatta note for moi... No thanks to some chugli-khors who have this bad habit of going around town, opening their big mouths.

Anyway, before I digress or waste a nano-second more on such nincompoops, let's get on with the more interesting things in life, like your natkhat nuggets from moviedom. So read on dahlings...

Oi oi... What is this I'm hearing subah-subah now? Never mind the brave effort to play a hero in Veer, it seems Salman Khan is planning another go at another heroic movie. Sher Lock Holmes tells me that this time, the actor is contemplating a modernised version of Tarzan, yeah the ape man, my sweetums..

Suna hai, this is a very confidential plan from behind the doors of Khan's home production company. Interestingly, this is the brainchild of youngest brother, Sohail, who has been keeping a very low profile, on the professional front that is.

Needless to say, Sallu bhai has approved the concept and has told Sohail to get working on the script. Arbaaz, meanwhile, is pre-occupied with the sequel to Dabangg, his mammothly succesful maiden production venture.

However, the Khan brothers' version of the ape man will see Tarzan's adventures in the concrete jungle. Now now, don't be mean to think that their idea is to avoid shooting with animals, haan!

Aksahy, John: Gym barabar gym!

That's not the only contribution of the day from my washerman. Now he's enthusing to me about Akshay Kumar and John Abraham's bonding shonding in London. The handsome hunks, who play escorts in Desi Boyz, are shooting the romcom with Deepika Padukone.

Safedi Lal tells me that despite working long hours in the cold weather, the two guys rise up early ever morning. Of course, the first to wake up is Akki, who ensures that Johnny boy is up soon to join him for kasratbaazi at the hotel gym.

Such is their enthusiasm about their fitness, that they are often discussing their health habits, exercise routine and diet. Johnny boy, who's had a couple of close shaves while doing his stunts for Force, is glad to learn some meditation techniques from Akki, so I'm told. Chalo, badhiya hai.

Preity Zinta argues with airport official

Bollywood actress Preity Zinta, co-owner of the Kings XI Punjab IPL team, was engaged in a tiff with Chandigarh airport officials Thursday when she was stopped for a security check, an official said.

Zinta, who had to board a Delhi flight, was stopped by an official of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), who asked her to show her identity proof. Zinta declined, leading to a heated argument between the actor and the security officials deployed there.

H.S. Toor, airport director, said: "There is nothing wrong in it and the CISF official was only doing his duty. But Zinta was adamant and she wanted to proceed without showing any identity proof."

"However, things were sorted out soon. Later Zinta showed her identity proof and she was allowed to proceed," he added.

However, officials of KXIP denied any such incident.

KXIP had beaten Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League match at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali Wednesday.

Who is the hottest item girl?

Item numbers were once only for vamps or the villain's arm-candy but no more. Bollywood's top actors are now ready to sizzle and make their mark as the 'hottest' item girl. Check out our top picks:

Aishwarya's dance moves have always been talked about but her 'Kajra re' item number with Big B and Abhishek had the nation grooving along.

Malaika Arora put on her dancing shoes for husband Arbaaz Khan's debut production 'Dabangg'. Not only was the song a superhit, it also entered the Guinness Book of World Record in Melbourne.
Katrina's 'Sheila' was pitched against Malaika's 'Munni' and while the debate is still on about which one is the better song, Kat surely did scorch onscreen in this one. After her sultry moves in 'Maiya maiya', Mallika's 'Razia' was supposed to challenge 'Munni' and 'Sheila' and now she will sizzle as 'Jalebi bai' in 'Double Dhamaal'.Deepika's item number in the forthcoming 'Dum Maaro Dum' has created quite a buzz already. Review: Thank You

Anees Bazmee's 'Thank You' is very similar to his film 'No Entry' (2005); it's all about cheating husbands and trusting wives and how to reform the infidels. The premise and the treatment is almost the same which makes you wonder why Bazmee wants to re-tell an old story with some cosmetic changes.

It's been five years since his previous work on infidelity and nothing has changed in the interim; husbands manage to fool unsuspecting wives and the hapless spouse can do nothing except cry over their fates or commit suicide. The other option is the one that these women opt for- they hire a detective/friend/well-wisher who vows to reform the erring husbands.

The premise- Raj (Bobby Deol), Vikram (Irrfan Khan) and Yogi (Suneil Shetty) have beautiful, loving wives but are always looking for casual sex outside their marriage. Sonam (Bobby's wife) has blind trust in her husband and readily falls for every blatant cover-up. Enter Kishen (Akshay Kumar) who lays traps and counter-traps to first expose Bobby's many affairs and post-interval plots to teach him a lesson.

The treatment is as clichéd as imaginable- slapstick humour, lots of skimpily-clad women and a totally ridiculous plot that is stretched to no end. Dialogues like, "all men are dogs" are aplenty and the message is as regressive as it can get; it's like the director fails to realize that stereotypes like "the husband is God" and "doormat wives" are no longer the norm. Not only does the length of the film try your patience, the melodramatic monologue by Akshay on the institution of marriage and the plight of trusting wives is an endurance test. Even the much-hyped 'Razia' item song by Mallika Sherawat fails to alleviate the misery.

Akshay, Bobby and Suneil Shetty in this film are understandable but why did Irrfan Khan agree to this film?

Gays find Vidya Balan hot

From shaking legs with Hollywood hunk Hugh Jackman to attending a film festival in Australia, Bollywood sensation Vidya Balan is truly turning out an internationally acclaimed celebrity. And a recent incident was just another proof of her global craze. The beauty, while talking to media persons at the recently concluded Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week revealed, that she was mistaken by an Australian gay to be sex-bombshell Kim Kardashian. Vidya quoted the man who said, I am gay, but you are really hot. By any chance, are you Kim Kardashian.

Salman Khan shows off his hot bod

Salman Khan was in a mood to show off his body this morning. He posted some jaw dropping pictures on a social networking site.

The common factor that binds Aamir and Sunny!

It is a well known fact to all who follow Bollywood that Aamir Khan and Sunny Deol do not share much in common apart from the fact that both are class apart actors who in the early stages of their career saw their much hyped films clashing with each other and yet both came up trumps.

The first clash that took place was in the year 1990 when Aamir Khan's romantic flick DIL released against Sunny Deol's vengeance action drama GHAYAL. The result; both super hits! The clash of the titans again took place in the year 2001 when Aamir Khan's cricket based period drama LAGAAN released along side Sunny Deol's partition love saga GADAR-EK PREM KATHA. Although GADAR did go on to become an all time blockbuster even LAGAAN was declared a super hit.

However we are not here to recall history but talk about a common factor that the public is witnessing right before their eyes presently. Indeed, it is their 'caterpillar' moustache and slightly out of the box look that has become a subject of much amusement and curiosity for the public as the two can be seen sporting them everywhere.

Aamir wears the moustache for Excel Entertainment's Reema Kagti's under production suspense thriller, while Sunny is sporting it for Dr. Chandrprakash Dwivedi's MOHALLA ASSI. Both are sporting the moustache and moving about in public places. We saw Aamir Khan cheering for the Indian team in the semi-final and final of world cup in that look while Sunny Deol was recently seen holidaying in the popular tourist spot of Manali in his new look, although sources confirm that the shooting of MOHALLA ASSI is indeed over.

Well, what can we say, indeed it's a good way to promote their new looks and here's hoping that the two meet with same sweet success at the turnstile.

Why NRIs Love Bollywood

The universal appeal of Bollywood is quite evident. War correspondent Jason Burke said, "It seemed that the greatest bulwark against the resurgent Taliban was not the US-led 'Operation Mountain Thrust' but the extraordinary popularity of Bollywood soundtracks." During his stint in Afghanistan, he recalled the frustration of the Afghan fighters in Tora Bora when their shortwave radios tuned into "the drums and the flutes of local traditional music" and their complete "joy if they found Bollywood soundtracks".

Joyce Mariel, spokesperson for RTL2 in Germany, said, "Despite the cultural differences that separate people from the West with people from India, there are the feelings of joy, pain and passion which bind people together and moreover, people can relate to human failings and feelings which are the same everywhere."

The response to the Bollywood 'effect' can be understood in context to globalization. Bollywood has internalized and internationalized the film-making process in its quest to become a global phenomenon.

Karan Johar took a cue from the phenomenal success of Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, directed by his childhood friend Aditya Chopra. In the film shot across London, Europe and India, the young Shah Rukh (Raj) and Kajol (Simran) fall in love while on a month-long Euro trip. Despite strong opposition from Simran's father, Raj decides to win over her entire family than elope and get married. Although the protagonist is exposed to a Western upbringing in London, he adheres to the "Indian tradition" of seeking parents' blessings to wed his ladylove. As of April 13, 2007, the film's initial theatrical release lasted 600 weeks creating a world record (IMDB).

In 1998, Karan Johar produced and directed Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, a "puppy love" story where the main characters play basketball and convey how the essence of "Indian culture" does not change even after Oxford education. The film performed exceptionally well in the domestic as well as the foreign market. After the success of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dharma Productions scored with one hit after another; Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham (2001), Kal Ho Na Ho (2003) and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna Na (2006).

The theme was consistent; nonresident Indian (NRI) protagonists dealing with intricacies of life, shot against the picturesque settings of an international backdrop in either London, New York or Miami; issues of love, friendship and kinship at its core. The wedding extravaganzas, the colorful song sequences, the elaborate dance numbers choreographed to perfection, costumes designed by leading fashion designers, flawlessly packaged with heightened melodrama and plentiful with lessons on "Indian values" and morals — they all worked.

The attraction that these films held for the South Asian diaspora was evident. Suketu Mehta, explains,"The diaspora wants to see an urban, affluent, glossy India, the India they imagine they grew up in and wish they could live in now. They want love stories with minimal conflict, even between rivals."

Karan Johar managed to create a sense of nostalgia for Indians living abroad and the conflicts that they experienced either in the past or were experiencing with their children. The second generation immigrants, torn between expectations of parents who desperately try to cling onto their roots and their own experience of growing up in a foreign country that is their home, watched these films because they could identify with the characters.

Conflicts faced by Indian immigrants especially the romantic ones is the consistent premise of Johar's plot, love is central to each of his stories and the dilemma and the struggle of the lovers always make for an excellent selling point. Karan Johar has skillfully managed to blend the traditional and the Western influence and create an "Indian identity" that is sa

Who is India’s most dangerous filmmaker?

A little independent Bengali film is creating a lot of buzz - five sold-out screenings at the 61st Berlinale in February this year, a successful screening at the Slamdance festival in Utah before that and the director has been invited to more than 30 international film festivals.

The subject is compelling- a story of petty crime, angry rap music and explicit sex and a film that has prolonged sex scenes and full-frontal nudity. Even the name of the director is intriguing, 'Q' - the director has adopted this letter as his identity.

Q explains, " the film was born from a sense of despair. It arrived in the form of words, out of anger, and a sense of desperation and hopelessness. That is exactly how one feels if the desire is to tell stories, unhinged and unashamed, for that's how stories should be told."

The complete article further states, "So he felt that the story of "Gandu," inspired and informed by real events and real characters, lent itself to a visual and aural experience that would resonate with our reality."

In a country where censorship and moral-policing are the norms, are we prepared for a film like this? Is it time to liberate artists from the contraptions of "Indian sensibilities" and our orthodox mindsets?

Why every Bollywood hero wants to save the day?

A lot of noise surrounded Salman Khan refusing 6 crores from a security agency to wrap himself in his own security guard's uniform in his latest, "Bodyguard". Then we heard that Nana Patekar will soon appear in his favourite (and most tried and tested) avatar in the movie, "Shagird"- an unconventional cop who gets mashed amidst the nexus of politicians and gangsters (Ab Tak Pachpan?).

But the underlying message that we read here is that our macho-men of Bollywood love exercising their testosterone on vigilante roles. Policing law-breakers and throwing punches at baddies not only puts them on a pedestal but also carves a much amiable image among their fans. Something that can hardly be achieved by playing the mushy boy-next-door, romancing atop Swiss Alps in designer sweaters. But what about the fearless action hero is so appealing that every actor can't wait to strap a cape around their neck? Let's draw up a list of possible merits of playing a numero uno crime-buster.

1. You get a chance to be too cool for school like Robinhood Pandey, a cop with immense potential to be a standup. Once age catches up, you could atleast figure in comic character roles having tickled bellies over time.

Kareena Kapoor: Cast Opposite Abhishek Bachchan In Dostana 2

KareenaKareena Kapoor Kapoor has reportedly replaced Priyanka Chopra in the forth coming flick Dostana 2 where she is cast opposite Abhishek Bachchan. Priyanka who was earlier cast for the project has reportedly lost it out to Kareena Kapoor.

Kareena Kapoor had debuted with Bachchan junior in 2000 in JP Dutta’s 'Refugee', where she sashayed the role of a village belle.

After that she had developed inhibitions to work with Abhishek Bachchan due to her sister Karisma Kapoor’s broken relationship with him.

However now since things have cooled down considerably with Abhishek happily married and Karisma settled into her own world, Kareena and Abhishek have again decided to give their careers a different path and shed all inhibitions for professional reasons.

Reports doing the rounds suggest that the two are also going to be paired in another flick which will be directed by Abbas Mastaan. Kareena Kapoor has earlier worked with the directors in 2001 in the flick Ajnabi with Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol and Bipasha Basu in pivotal roles.

Kareena Kapoor appeared in a whole load of movies after that with films like Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai, Asoka, Yaadein, Khusi, Mein Prem Ki Deewani Hun etc. But she was recognized for her talent after she appeared as the oh...So stylish Poo in KJO’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and then her very strong role in 'Chameli' as the prostitute where she won the Filmfare award for Special Award. She also won a Film fare award for her role in Omkara.

Kareena’s super hit films like 'Jab We Met' and '3 Idiots' followed by the recent 'Golmaal 3' success has made her one of the topmost actresses in Bollywood.

Her forthcoming films are RA.ONE opposite Shahrukh Khan and Agent Vinod opposite Saif Ali Khan.

Akshay Kumar To Be Cast In Remake Of 'Seeta Aur Geeta' Opposite Katrina

Akshay Kumar the real action star of Bollywood may have seen quite a pitfall in his recent releases like Action Replay and Tees Maar Khan which had both bombed at the box office but that has not deterred his popularity amongst film makers.

This star is soon going to be seen in a very different genre film titled Patiala House where he plays the role of a cricketer who has to fight out his way with his family to achieve his dreams.

However, his retro look is yet again going to be explored as reports are that Akshay has been confirmed to star in the remake of Seeta Aur Geeta, a film which was one of the biggest blockbusters of the seventies. The original film had Hema Malini in a double role. The two male protagonists were played by Dharmendra and Sanjeev Kumar where Dharmendra gets attracted to the village belle and Sanjeev Kumar to the city bred gal.

The remake is to have Akshay Kumar sashaying the role of Dharmedra and Katrina Kaif to be the female protagonist. The other star has not yet been finalized suggest reports.

Seems like this year is going to see a lot of Akshay Kumar on the silver screen and that too if he’s paired opposite the hot Katrina again maybe the magic of their earlier films together like Namaste London, Welcome, Singh Is Kingg etc might be back and the remake of Seeta Aur Geeta becomes a bigger hit than the original. At least their fans hope it does. Keep an eye on more of this right here.

Salman Khan Likely To Play Negative Role In Mr. India Sequel

It has been a long time when the rumour about the sequel of 1987 hit film Mr India started. But nothing solid has come out of these gossips yet. This has irritated not only the fans but also the star of the film Anil Kapoor, who is still remembered for that role played by him.

Recently, the 51 year old star said that the project should be started as soon as possible rather than talking about it so much. Anil added that people have talked a lot about the sequel about the film and there is nothing left to talk about it now. He said that the project is yet blank and it should be started now.

However, the latest reports suggest a new development about the sequel that indicates the Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is expected to play villain in this film. It seems that the negative effect of his character in Dabangg has made him a hot choice for the role of villain. People loved his Chulbul Pandey act, which was quite mischievous.

On the other hand, Anil will return with his ‘bhabhi’ Sri Devi as the lead pair, which rocked the industry in the 1980s. Anil’s elder brother and Sri Devi’s husband Boney Kapoor is all set take the producer’s seat. Boney has plans to shoot the sequel in 3D.

If the star casts remain the same and it comes out in 3D, we can expect yet another hit from Anil Kapoor and Sri Devi!

IPL vs. Movies?

Bollywood films rarely see the kind of euphoria that surrounds cricket in India. And most filmmakers have learnt to live with that. But the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) Season Four, doesn't look like it poses a threat to films that will release over the next two-odd months. At least that's what their respective directors and producers feel.

"The IPL has started within less than a week after India's World Cup victory. It may hold people initially, but apart from the final, every match may not get as many eyeballs," says Onir, whose I Am releases on April 29, while the ongoing IPL will end on May 28. Director Rohan Sippy's big budget film, Dum Maro Dum, is due to hit theatres on April 22. He too, is sure that audiences will watch it, as they haven't seen a big release in a while: "I feel there is room for both films and cricket to co-exist."

According to producer Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra, a certain "cricket fatigue" has begun to set in among the audience, securing his film, Teen Thay Bhai, which releases on April 15. Meanwhile, trade experts feel the IPL may actually work in the favour of smaller budget projects, as not many big banner movies will risk releasing their films. "They stand to gain with critical acclaim and better price for satellite rights due to lesser competition from mega-starrers," says Amod Mehra, trade analyst.

Sagar Bellary's Bheja Fry 2, Subhash Ghai's Nauka Dubi and Cycle Kick; Ayub Din Khan's West Is West, Lara Dutta starrer Chalo Dilli, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's My Friend Pinto, Vikram Bhatt's Haunted and Rajshri's Love You Mr Kalakaar are some films due to release during this period.

Tanuj Garg, CEO, Balaji Motion Pictures, which is releasing Shor In The City on April 28 and Ragini MMS on May 12 agrees, "It's better to release subject oriented films during this time, rather than get them massacred by big budget flicks."

A self-confessed cricket fan, debutant director Amole Gupta too is looking forward to release his Stanley Ka Dabba on May 13. "After winning the WC, cricket fans can't look for a greater high," says Gupte. "My film is a family entertainer for the summer holidays in schools."

Aamir, Saif in Face Off remake?

Tanu Weds Manu distributor Sunil Bohra has claimed that Aamir Khan and Saif Ali Khan are ready to act in the remake of John Travolta starrer Face-Off. But Aamir and Saif have no clue about it. Also, Bohra has no official rights to remake the John Woos film. He approached Sanjay Gupta, an English remake fanatic, with the offer to remake Face Off for him.

"Bohra told Gupta that Aamir Khan would do the remake of Face Off. He even told Gupta that Aamir would arrange to get Saif Ali Khan on board for the second role," a source told Mumbai Mirror.

Earlier, he had approached Wake Up Sid director Ayaan Mukerji for the same. "Bohra told Ayaan that he should direct the remake of Face Off for him with Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan in the lead roles," informed the source.

However, Bohra denied the news. "Mere paas Face Off ke rights nahin hai. Aur Aamir koi remake mein kaam karta hi nahi. Main Ayaan aur Gupta se nahin mila hoon. (I Don't have Face Off rights. Aamir doesn't work in any remake. I didn't meet Ayaan and Gupta)," he told the tabloid.

But Sanjay Gupta confirmed the reports, "Bohra had come with the offer. After that, he never got back."

"Aamir was never in talks with Bohra for a remake of Face Off. How can Bohra go and speak to anybody outside like this," a source close to Aamir told the tabloid.

Film companies to invest in 3-D projects

Two film companies - BVG Films and DAR Motion Pictures - plan to invest Rs.1 billion (over $22 million) to produce and release three 3-D films over the next two to three years.

BVG Films, a division of ASA Productions, and DAR Motion Pictures (DAR), the film entertainment division of DAR Media Private Limited, are already gearing up for their first release - Vikram Bhatt directed "Haunted 3D", which will hit the theatres May 6.

The remaining two movies in this deal are edge-of-the-seat 3-D action thrillers, a press statement said.

They have also tied up with digital cinema network UFO Moviez India Limited.

"A new industry is emerging and this is the dawn of that industry. When all arms of movie making come together, nothing can keep the industry from growing strength to strength. This is the big coming together of production, distribution and exhibition companies to keep the 3-D space alive and kicking," said Vikram Bhatt, board member of ASA Productions.

The companies are confident of the 3-D concept.

"This partnership is a gigantic step towards fast tracking the Indian 3-D revolution" There is no doubt that 3-D films are the future not just internationally but in India as well," DAR Capital Group's chairman Arun Rangachari said.

"Given our complete belief in this technology and the chicken and egg situation between the film exhibition and distribution fraternity and producers in India with regards to 3-D films, we decided to take the plunge with Vikram through this announcement and are very glad to have found like minded partner in UFO," he added.

By the time the third movie of the deal is set for release, the number of 3-D compliant theatres in the country is tipped to be around 1,200 screens, according to Kapil Agarwal of UFO Moviez.

"We are committed to enhance the country's 3-D footprint. Being a pioneer in this industry's technological revolution, we are focused on bringing in this next wave of change through our innovative business model designed around state-of-the-art 3D digital cinema systems with satellite based delivery to theatres across the country," he said.

Thank You - Movie Review

After the super duper success of ‘Welcome’ and ‘Singh Is King’, Akshay Kumar and Anees Bazmee are back with another laughter riot ‘Thank You’. The film falls in the line of extra-martial affairs with some funny instances like ‘Shaadi No 1’, ‘No Entry’. Though the script has resemblance to those flicks, thief-detective idea makes the story different from the usual track.

In many situations, Anees Bazmee took inspiration from his own film ‘No Entry’ but unfortunately he could not bring out the desired outcome. The film lacks freshness and looks very resembling to his earlier flicks. The first half was engrossing and makes the audience stick to their seats but the second half of the film is very much dragging and boring. At the end, you don’t know how to react.

The same old philosophies like ‘Ghar Ka murgi dal barabaar’ and ‘Men are dogs’ are used to describe certain situations. Nothing new can be drawn from the film.

Raj (Bobby Deol), Vikram (Irrfan Khan) and Yogi (Sunil Shetty) takes their respective wives Sanjana (Sonam Kapoor) Karthika (Rimi Sen) and Radha (Celina Jaitley) for granted. Sanjana suspecting her husband Raj hires hires a flute-playing private detective Kishan (Akshay Kumar), who promises to teach the three loose husbands a tight lesson.

The film has everything that a commercial comic drama contains, ‘naach-gaana’, rona-dhona’, comedy but nothing appealing.

Anees handled few comic scenes with sheer excellence. There are some genuine funny scenes which will makes the audience break into laughter.

Pritam's music is unimpressive. Ravi Yadav's cinematography is top-grade. Steven H. Bernard has done a good editing.

Speaking about performances, Akshay Kumar’s comic timing is as par excellence. He was awesome and so is Irrfan Khan. He enacted his comic part really well. Sunil Shetty was just fine. Bobby Deol was fine. In the ladies department, Sonam Kapoor poorly performed; Rimi Sen was the best among the ladies. She performed stupendously well. Celina Jaitley had only counted scenes. Mallika Sherawat fails to sizzle in the Razia item number.

In the nutshell, it is a poor show. Basically, after delivering hits like ‘Welcome’ and ‘Singh Is King’, one expects some high dosage of entertainment from Bazee-Akshay duo but the outcome was devastating.

In Transit: Hollywood with a Twist

Written, produced and starring the very talented Sunil Sadarangani, is yet again out with his new short film In Transit. The story is based on a true life event and follows the life of a two people who meet briefly at a bus stop. Hailing from diverse backgrounds, In Transit depicts the differences that these two people clearly possess but also, the clear similarities. Set in Los Angeles, In Transit is said to be a sensitive and emotional experience amidst a city that is said to be insensitive.
Talking more about the film, Sunil went on to say, “I raised production funds for filming through crowd funding, that is, through donations and contributions from family, friends and strangers.”

In addition, he struck gold with renowned actress Liliana Arriaga who stars opposite him in the film. “The meeting of the character Maria, played by Liliana Arriaga, happened to me in May 2008, on Mother's Day. The interaction with her coupled with the fact it occurred on Mother's Day, motivated me to write the script. It was only 2 years later, I decided to start making the film,” he added.

The writer/actor/producer also went on to talk about his experience on set. “Through the journey of producing this film, I have been blessed to have on board creative and wonderful people. Multiple award winning Director, Stev Elam, brilliant cinematographers Justin Chefe and Stuart Bunton, expert on-location sound engineer Devin Golub, Trailer Editor Peter Finestone (ex-drummer of Bad Religion), music scorer Gunnard Doboze (scored Oscar nominated short documentary film 'Last Campaign of Governor Booth), my producer partner Saba Moor-Doucette and above all the very talented and brilliant actress Liliana Arriaga. Liliana was an amazing, fun and wonderful co-star to work with,” he explained.

Jacqueline Fernandez plays centrespread model in Murder 2

Is Jacqueline Fernandez shedding more clothes than ever before in Murder 2? The buzz is that the Bhatts are taking the erotic content in Murder 2 far beyond where they took it with Bipasha Basu in Jism and Mallika Sherawat in Murder.

Jacqueline plays a centrespread model in Murder 2. Leave the steamy scenes of Mallika Sherawat in Murder behind. It's time for Jacqueline Fernandez to sizzle up the screen like never before for the Murder sequel.

Apparently Jacqueline plays the centrespread model of a Playboy-ish men's magazine. The role requires her to shed all inhibitions and most of her clothes which the Sri Lankan beauty, so far identified with fun films like Aladin and Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai is more than willing to do.

Apparently, Jacqueline has shown a keen interest in discarding her goody-goody image and is more than willing to go all-out for the role. Apparently, director Mohit Suri has shot some never-before seen sequences with Jacqueline where she has shown much more than just her histrionics.

Director Mohit Suri, currently helming the new-age erotica in Goa admits to the film's high on the erotic content. "Murder was five years ago. Back then adultery and a wife stealing away to meet her lover was a big thing. People were turned on by Emraan's 17-18 smooches and Mallika Sherawat's bare back. Times have changed. It takes a lot to shock and titillate the audience. And we're doing just that."

Mohit, however, refuses to divulge if Jacqueline has gone completely nude. "All I'll say is she's gone as far as the role demands. Jacqueline told me, "My earlier films were for small boys. I want Murder 2 to be for the big boys." She plays a model for an adult magazine, an Indian equivalent of Playboy. So you can imagine what that entails! Jacqueline has completely surrendered to the role."

Murder 2 is set in the world of pimps, hookers and prostitutes. An area familiar to Mohit Suri who made Kalyug about an innocent girl being whisked away to a brothel. "It's a thriller exploring the world of prostitutes, transvestites, pimps and gigolos. It is not a film for the young. Jacqueline will be going far ahead of anything seen so far in terms of the erotic content," promises Mohit.

Mallika Sherawat was never considered seriously for Murder 2. Explains Mohit, "Bringing her and Emraan together again after Murder would've been too much of a repetition. There is a special challenge to making Jacqueline go into the erotic space. Though Murder 2 is a sequel to Murder, it has no connection with the earlier film. I've taken up the challenge of carrying a franchise from Bhatt Saab's Vishesh Films forward. I made Raaz 2, remember?"

As for Jacqueline, here's the thing. She has been working on improving the erotica level of Bipasha in Jism and Mallika in Murder, hoping that Murder 2 would do the same trick for her.

Katrina Kaif signed up for Dhoom: 3; Aamir Khan to take profit share? Click here to add this article to My Clips

The news of Aamir Khan being roped in to play the villain in Dhoom 3 was a rage last week. However, the big question since then has been, who will be signed as the lead actress opposite him. Though a number of names were being tossed around by the media, Bollywood Hungama has learnt from its sources that Katrina Kaif will be playing the female lead in Dhoom: 3.

Katrina, who is currently doing YRF's Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, has beaten the other contenders to clinch the role.

Though the rest of the cast, namely Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra remains unchanged, Aamir and Katrina's addition to the cast certainly heats things up. Considering the chemistry between Aamir and Katrina, the duo has put all questions to rest, with their photographic rendition of the classic film Pyaasa that garnered positive response from fans and industry folk alike.

Bollywood Hungama has also learnt from its sources that Aamir won't be charging his usual fee for D: 3. Instead, he will have a stake in the profits of the film. To be precise Aamir will have a total of 33% stake in the profits of the film. This will be the first time that YRF has permitted such sharing. However, though this may be a first for the production house, Aamir has cut down his share from the usual 40% that he had for the film 3 Idiots.

When we contacted, Rafiq Gangjee from YRF replied, "The casting for the girls of Dhoom: 3 has not started. Also, YRF does not discuss artist contracts and agreements."

While Aamir's publicist said, "The 33% profit sharing ratio is not true, besides we do not have any profit sharing ratio with YRF as such. While on the remuneration i will not comment."

While Yash Raj Films refrains to comment on this, we can safely bet that with Katrina being signed on for Dhoom: 3, and Aamir adding another shade to the film with his talent, the high octane torque film promises to be more than just fast bikes.

Aamir Khan Nominated in 2011 TIME 100 Poll

Time Magazine is once again holding a poll with nominees for the Time 100, which is a list of the most influential people in the world. Encompassing people from all walks of life and countries the poll asks you to “Cast your votes for the leaders, artists, innovators, icons and heroes that you think are the most influential people in the world. The winner will be included in the TIME 100.”

One of Hindi cinemas own, Aamir Khan, has been included in the list of 204 nominees on the poll. His entry reads, “Aamir Khan started out in Bollywood as a handsome, likable star from a family of film producers. While still at the peak of his career as an actor, he has successfully reinvented himself as a producer, encouraging out-of-the-box movies. In 2009, he starred in and co-produced Bollywood's biggest-ever commercial hit, 3 Idiots, and last year he produced the critically acclaimed Peepli Live, a satire on farmer suicides that made a profit without any top stars.”

Aamir is the only Indian actor to be included in the nominees for the 2011 list. In the 2010 poll both Sachin Tendulkar and Chetan Bhagat were included in the poll’s nominees. Voting ends for the 2011 poll on April 14th.

Amitabh's Action in Bbuddah!

We told you earlier that for his film currently in production Bbuddah-Hoga Tera Baap, Amitabh Bachchan is going back to his angry man avatar. While he may not be young still, he is still going strong and for this film will once again be fighting! The esteemed actor says it has been awhile but he is excited to be back in action for the camera!

On his blog he wrote, "Its nostalgic to be in the presence of action directors again...had not been there for years...homesick for it!!"

"I had not punched, kicked or walloped a guy in ages! At least not in the past 15 years or so. But finding myself in those climes for 'Bbuddah...', I must admit I was really missing something," he added.

According to Mr. Bachchan he is still in good form for the action scenes and doing them has even helped off camera, “"The stride has been firmer, the heart pumping the blood through the veins as rapidly as one would imagine and that strange feel of having conquered all, fills me up with enthusiasm, hope and a brighter tomorrow. There is a strange connect in this and I sometimes wonder why the earlier films got the kind of attention they did when they did."

He went on to add, "The patriarch, the gentle giant, noble and dignified has long been the image that has been adhered to. One forgets how important it had been for those that identified with it. Violence has never been an appreciative point, but an action that has remained for a cause has forever found favor. Breaking away from what transpired for long, bringing back what had been dormant is now what this home production chooses to accomplish."

"I have enjoyed today. Hopefully I shall enjoy more of it later."

Directed by Puri Jagannadh, the film also stars Hema Malini, and has music by Vishal and Shekhar. With a tagline like 'Hoga Tera Baap', we are sure this is going to be an exciting film and we are going to keep our eyes on all the news so watch for so much more!

SRK ropes in Bebo to cheer for KKR

Kareena Kapoor will add star power to the IPL which is starting today in Chennai. All the credit goes to Shahrukh Khan because King Khan is the man who brought Kareena Kapoor to the stadium. Unlike last year, Kareena will not cheer for Mumbai Indians. This time she will cheer for Kolkata Knight Riders standing by Shahrukh’s side. In this way, the duo will promote their upcoming high voltage sci-fic, ‘Ra. One’.

Shahrukh asked Bebo to present in all the matches of KKR if possible. "Kareena is the female lead in Ra. One and the actor wants to club the promotion of his film with IPL," said a source.

Neetu Chandra’s nude scene in Apartment!

Similar to Smita Patil's 'bathing in the slums' scene in Chakra, Neetu Chandra has done a bathing scene in Jagmohan Mundhra's Apartment. Neetu accepted that scene professionally.

“I went about it very professionally. Initially, I was nervous but later, after seeing the scene and the way it was shot, I am confident it will go down well. They also showed me Tanushree's shower scene with Rohit in her lavish apartment and then there is my bathing scene in a run-down broken bathroom. I am sure there will be comparisons.” said Neetu. The actress feels that it is unfair to compare it with Smita Patil’s bathing scene in Chakra. “I knew that Smita Patil had done a similar bathing scene in Chakra. I have been compared to Smitaji since Traffic Signal but it's not fair to be compared to anyone. She was a legend. We all look up to her. If I can be even one per cent of what she was, my life is set.” said Neetu Chandra. “Well it shows that I am nude but I don't want to comment beyond that. It can be a trick of the camera too. Do you think any actress would pose for a scene like this without wearing anything?” Neetu added.

Priyanka kicked out of 'Dostana 2', Katrina in

Priyanka Chopra who has impressed one and all with her acting in ‘Dostana’ has got the biggest shock of her life. She was ousted from ‘Dostana 2’. Instead of Priyanka, Katrina Kaif will be sharing screen space with John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan.

Mansukhani said, “‘Dostana 2’ is very much on. The film stars Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Katrina Kaif.”

Very recently, Tanun and Priyanka has worked in an ad film together and both bonded very well as if Piggy Chops is undoubtedly in ‘Dostana’ sequel.

“Priyanka and Tarun gelled very well during ‘Dostana’. And that day at Madh Island, Mansukhani was also acting in the commercial. So, the camaraderie had increased. The actress grabbed this opportunity to ask him for a role. ‘I hope I am doing something in ‘Dostana 2’’, she asked,” said an eyewitness.

“The director had no other option but to smile back,” added the source. Priyanka Chopra misread Tarun’s smile and she though that she was very much part of the film. “Though Priyanka has been going around saying that there is something for her in ‘Dostana 2’, the fact is that there is nothing till date. Apparently, she wrongly took Mansukhani’s smile for a ‘yes’,” added the source.

Well, time will only say whether Katrina Kaif is behind Priyanka Chopra's eviction.

Salman Khan kisses Asin

After several denials, Salman Khan has finally agreed to kiss Asin in Anees Bazmee’s ‘Ready’. Salman was at first not ready to kiss Asin at any cost but when the director of the film, Anees Bazmee explained Salman about the demand of the script, he agreed.

Even Asin tried to persuade Sallu that the kissing scene is a demand of the script and he should do the act. However, it’s not a lip-lock but a peck on the cheeks. If not a lip-lock, the director has to satisfy with a kiss on cheek only.

Salman has starred in several films over the years and acted with so many female beauties but he never lip-locked with any of his actresses in this long tenure of acting.

Hrithik drops his shirt!

Hrithik Roshan is back in his smokin' hot avatar. After playing the portly Ethan Mascarenhas in Guzaarish (2010), he is now set to flaunt super-toned abs and rippling muscles in Zoya Akhtar's Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara (ZMND) as is revealed in the film's first look.

Hrithik's new look hasn't come easily especially after Guzaarish for which he had gained a lot of weight to play a paraplegic. Hrithik worked out for two-and-a-half hours every day to get back his chiselled looks.

Hrithik, who wrapped up all his sequences and photo shoots with the new look in about 4-5 days in Spain, had considerably cut down on his water and salt intake and was on a low-carb diet to get back his sculpted body. Incidentally, he didn't take any help from trainers in Spain while working out.

ZMND co-producer Ritesh Sidhwani says, "Hrithik has always been very passionate about his physique, so it wasn't difficult for us to get him back in a lean avatar. He has always been associated with a stylish body. We have gone ahead to present Duggu in a bare-bodied avatar since people love him and identify with it."

For ZMND, Hrithik especially did weight training for an extra 30 minutes every day, as opposed to his usual two-hour daily workout session. Since he was constantly gaining and losing weight for Guzaarish, Hrithik was keen to sport a completely toned look for Zoya's film.

According to Ritesh, Hrithik's physique in the first look is similar to how he was portrayed in Dhoom 2. "If people are happy to see Hrithik in such a look, I am happy for my film as a producer."

ZMND is about a fun-filled road trip. It also stars Katrina Kaif, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol and Kalki Koelchin.

Coming back to Hrithik's physique, the actor has been famous for his chiselled look over the years. In Jodhaa Akbar (2008), he had wowed his fans with a shirtless sword-practising scene. Hrithik had also flaunted his body in Dhoom 2 (2006) only to surprise everyone by gaining weight, thanks to loads of junk food and no workouts, for Guzaarish. But it's back to punishing gym routines and healthy diet for the actor. At least for now.

Salman breaks kissing record!

After all that brouhaha, it seems like Salman Khan is not going to rip even a single T-shirt on Guiness World Records. Sher Lock Holmes, who had sneaked into the sets of the TV show hosted by Preity Zinta, claims that the handsome hunk didn't venture into it because he probably knew he couldn't make the record.

Instead, the Indian producers at Miditech Pvt Ltd got the Dabangg dude to try getting the most kisses on his hand.

My super sleuth tells me that 87 is the highest registered number, and Sallu was all the more eager to break this record. Interestingly, another aspirant came to the sets to create his record for ripping the maximum T-shirts in a minute. Seeming impressed with this chap, Sher Lock bhai jests that Sallu should take some tips from him. Hmm.

Bollywood extends support to Anna Hazare

Bollywood celebrities have shown support for eminent social activist Anna Hazare, who has gone on an indefinite hunger strike for a stronger Lokpal Bill that provides for stringent punishment for corruption.

The Lokpal Bill, 2010 provides for filing complaints of corruption against the prime minister, ministers and MPs with the ombudsman.

However, Hazare said that the Lokpal Bill in its present form is toothless and his supporters have drafted a separate Jan Lokpal bill taking into account the views and suggestions from civil society and common people and want its enactment.

Here's what the celebrities have to say:

Anupam Kher: When somebody is fighting corruption, I don't judge his ways. I applaud his intentions and actions. I am with ANNA HAZARE. Are you?:)

Shekhar Kapur: I support Anna Hazare's fast for national debate on Lokpal Bill. Atleast need Parliament to come out and respond to issue. People like Anna Hazare will force a people's movement against the system. Like Gandhi did against the British.

Rahul Bose: That it takes an Anna Hazare fasting unto death to effect systemic change is comment enough. corruption part of our DNA.

Diya Mirza: Finally, people are voicing strong support for a man that has, should and will be a great example to our generation. i support Anna Hazare

Juhi Chawla: I am complete and absolute supporter of Shri Anna Hazare! All those with a conscience and a clean heart speak up.

Purab Kohli: Jee yo 'Hazare' saaal 'Anna Sahib'!! (Long live Anna Hazare)

Onir: I Support Anna Hazare. @iam_juhi - I am in complete and absolute support of shri Anna Hazare! All those with a conscience and a clean heart speak up!

Madhur Bhandarkar: Overwhelming momentum generates in for Anna Hazare's fight against corruption. Is India gonna be the next Egypt??

Pritish Nandy: Proud to see common man come out in support of Anna Hazare. It took a 72-year-old man to fast unto death to wake us up.

Ranvir Shorey: Anna Hazare's crusade is a great litmus test to see if India has any grit left at all. Or have we become a country of corrupt schmoozers...

Sush takes a break!

After 14 years, 34 films and very few hits in between, actor Sushmita Sen has decided it's time for a break. Unlike other stars, Sen, 35, is pragmatic about her Bollywood career.

"You know, I'd love to say I'm working on something, but that's not true at all. I'm actually just pausing because I think I have to. It's been too many years and I look at all the work I've done, all the flops I've delivered and I have to reassess a little bit," she says.

There is one film in the pipeline and she's hoping the director will announce it soon. The role, she says, is new to her and she's a little jittery. Doesn't her decision to take a break weigh heavily on her? "Not at all. Acting has given me a platform most people struggle to have; I got it on a silver platter.

As an actor I have done my work diligently and with as much dignity as I possibly could, but whether it's the choice of script or taste of audience, when you do it regularly you lose that objectivity. And I have lost objectivity."

Her focus now is her children and her companies. "I asked myself, do I really want to do this? With a baby at home and two other babies - my companies, the I AM foundation, I have a lot more that needs my attention right now. It's time to focus on them."

The actor flew into the Capital a few days ago to walk the ramp for Delhi-based NGO Khushi, which she has been associated with for four years. She was accompanied by her daughters Renee and Alisah, who sat in the audience to watch their mum. "They are my heart and soul," she gushes at the mention of her children.

Clearly a proud mom, she shares how Renee has just completed class 7 with great grades and how baby Alisah, now a year and seven months old, has picked up words such as 'kiss', 'up' and 'walk'. "The words sound like commands. She's a little princess who has us wrapped around her little finger. She can operate any remote control or gadget without being told what to do, She's going to be an engineer..." she says.

What about Renee? She says, "Her only aim in life is to be an actor. I have taken her for some shoots to show her that it's not easy, but she still wants it!"

Court to hear petition to ban 'Dum Maro Dum'

The Bombay High Court will Thursday hear a petition seeking a ban on the release of Rohan Sippy's film "Dum Maro Dum" on the grounds that it portrays Goa and Goan women in a bad light.Savio Rodrigues, who runs a local media website, has said in his petition that the "movie is against public order, decency and morality and there is clear violation of the fundamental rights guaranteed under the Constitution of India to the people of Goa".
The petition, which will be heard for admission Thursday, has named the state chief secretary, the chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification, M/s Fox Star studios, and Ramesh Sippy Entertainment as the respondents.

Rodrigues also said the bad portrayal of Goa in the film will "create a ripple effect on Goa's tourism" if it is released in India and worldwide.

"The film is scheduled to be released April 22, 2011, and as per the publicity given to the said film by the producers in the media, the said film will attract criminal minded tourists and offenders and drive away decent travellers and tourists from Goa," Savio has said in his petition.

Tourism Minister Nilkanth Halarnkar has said he will be taking up allegations of Goa's bad portrayal in the film with its director.

"We are worried that Goa may be projected badly in the film. The industry in Goa and the government have worked very hard to build the reputation of Goa to what it is today. We will intervene. The chief minister and I will take up the issue with Sippy," Halarnkar said.
